The Office of the Vice President for Research and for National Laboratories provides guidance and central administrative support to UChicago researchers and scholars in their pursuit of new knowledge. We also oversee the management contracts and board operations for Argonne National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy.
Several dedicated offices inside of the OVPRNL work with individual researchers, departments and divisions to accelerate, seed and coalesce research and provide expertise, resources and services to help smooth the path of discovery and scholarship at UChicago, Argonne and Fermilab. Through a number of strategic initiatives, the OVPRNL helps to foster interdisciplinary, inter-divisional and inter-institutional collaborations, ensure safe and responsible conduct of research and enable the effective dissemination of new knowledge through publication, technology transfer and public outreach.
