Lisa is responsible for strategic communications planning and implementation for the Office of the Vice President for Research and for National Laboratories. Her primary responsibility is to communicate the impact and benefits of UChicago research and discovery, our close ties with Argonne and Fermilab, and our stewardship role as manager of both national laboratories. Lisa often serves as project manager and communications liason on joint University/Lab communications initiatives and provides marketing support to office affiliates Arete, Office of Safety Research, Research Computing Center, UChicagoTech and University Research Administration.
Lisa’s responsibilities include internal and external communications, event planning, copywriting, website development, social media marketing, collateral and video development in support of office objectives. She also launched and produces three original public and internal speaker series: the UChicago Discovery Series, Science on the Screen and the UChicago/Argonne/Fermilab Joint Speaker Series.
Lisa participates in a number of STEM education and outreach initiatives. She has served as head of the Media Programming Committee for Science Chicago (2008-2009) and led the university’s public programming efforts for the year-long event. She also coordinated the University’s participation in two of Argonne’s major Open Houses events. Lisa currently represents the University of Chicago on the Chicago Council on Science and Technology’s (C2ST) Board of Directors.She is also a founding member of an exciting new Science+Cinema collaboration with C2ST, The Chicago International Film Festival and Columbia College.
Lisa joined the University in 2006. Previously, she managed internal communications, public relations, and analyst relations for the North American office of T-Systems, a $10 billion division of Deutsche Telekom; oversaw marketing and communications for IT service provider Nuclio Corporation; was associate director of product management and marketing at SBC/Ameritech wholesale division and internal communications manager for Ameritech corporate; worked as an account manager for several national, consumer magazine publishers and was a media planner for D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles.
Lisa received a B.A. in English with a writing emphasis from Santa Clara University and an M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University. She also completed Chicago Booth’s Executive Program for Emerging Leaders certificate program.
